ONE FEDERAL STREET
Boston, Massachusetts

Program: Repositioning of a major Boston office tower

Solution: Originally designed by TAC in the early 1970's as the Shawmut Bank Building, the building was repositioned and updated by reorganizing the entrance locations, completely refinishing the main lobby and creating a new multi-story atrium along Federal Street.

The bold new moves included creation of a corner atrium entrance along Franklin Street, and new entrances to the main lobby with revolving doors and glass canopies on the Federal Street and Devonshire Street facades. The introduction of stainless steel detailing as a compliment to the existing bronze window frames and hardware of the building adds a new level of sophistication and elegance, as does the new marble, granite and wood paneling of the renovated lobby spaces.
